Recently, the Dogger Bank D offshore wind project developed by a 50/50 joint venture of SSE Renewables and Equinor has launched public consultation.
As the world's largest offshore wind farm under construction, the Dogger Bank offshore wind farm is located off the coast of the UK, with a total installed capacity of 3.6 GW. It is being constructed in three phases: A, B and C, each phase is 1.2 GW, and is owned by SSE Renewables (40 %), Equinor (40%) and Vårgrønn (20%).
Dogger Bank D is the fourth phase of the Dogger Bank project. It will be located about 210 kilometers off the northeast coast of England, in the eastern area of Dogger Bank C. It covers an area of 262 square kilometers, has a planned installed capacity of approximately 2 GW, and plans to install 128 wind turbines. and up to 6 offshore platforms. After the completion of the fourth phase, the total installed capacity of the Dogger Bank project will exceed 5.5 GW.
Currently, the Dogger Bank D project has passed the demarcation report approval and obtained a power generation license in July. This public consultation will last until November 7, and the second phase of consultation is planned to take place in the summer of 2024.
The public consultation will provide the community with the opportunity to learn more about the project, ask questions and share feedback, which will help to refine the project plan and apply for a Development Consent Order (DCO) with the Planning Inspectorate and the Secretary of State as a nationally significant infrastructure project. ) to provide guidance for further development of the project.
According to the developers, the project will connect to the UK's National Grid or the wider European coordinated grid to provide power to homes and businesses. In addition, the developers plan to connect it to a new large-scale onshore electrolysis facility in east Yorkshire to produce green hydrogen.
